Polyglycolic Acid Suture

MEGASORB is a mid-term absorbable braided and coated synthetic suture made of Polyglycolic acid. It degrades by hydrolysis and provides predictable and reliable absorption. MEGASORB suture is coated with a mixture of Caprolactone and Calcium Stearate. It is dyed violet by a FDA approved color additive. It is also available in an undyed version.

  • Retains 75% knot tensile strength for up to 14 days.
  • Retains 50% knot tensile strength for up to 21 days.
  • Complete mass absorption between 56 to 70 days.

Indication

Used for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation across suitable surgery types.
